Last (but not least), we’ll talk particulars of Peppermint in our final Oil of the Week installment.
Pass the Peppermint!
Peppermint is in the same family as Lavender. As a relative of the Swiss Army knife of Essential Oils, it’s not surprising that Peppermint is also a versatile, everyday oil. Most people have smelled or tasted Peppermint, but this mighty mint can do a lot more than spice up brownies (but really, these brownies are delicious).
You can reach for Peppermint throughout your day! Here are a few tips to help you get started.
Digestive Support
Just like DiGize or Lemon, Peppermint helps support many facets of healthy intestinal function.
- Travel: If plane travel gets you down, try inhaling Peppermint to calm down after takeoff.
- Pregnancy: Oily mamas-to-be, give yourself a treat in those early days by inhaling or diffusing Peppermint.
- Appetite: Take a bite out of overeating by inhaling Peppermint to satiate cravings before you cave.
All in Your Head
- Head Support: Refresh head or sinuses by inhaling and/or applying Peppermint directly to your temples and back of neck.
Pro Tip: Peppermint is a hot oil, so test out your tolerance with a carrier oil before you try it neat.
- Concentration: Try diffusing Peppermint and Lemon when tackling homework or projects that take focus.
De-Stress & Cool Down
- Post Workout Massage: Treat tired muscles to a soothing Peppermint massage. Just dilute a few drops in your favorite carrier oil and apply as needed.
- Cool Down: You can also use Peppermint as a way to cool down on a hot summer day. Try it on the back of your neck for a refreshing treat.
